NEW MEASURING PRINCIPLE FOR THE HIGHEST MEASURING ACCURACY!

Only a steady, continuous and overall stabilization of the extrusion process allows an efcient line production and thus
ensures competitiveness in the plastics market. This requires a technology which is able to master the required decisive
functions „measurement & control“ and the related documentation.
Against this background we created a new product and called it WARP. Several transceivers which are distributed around the
circumference of the pipe transmit and receive Terahertz waves in the lower frequency range and use them for a contactless measurement. Calculation of the delay time of the reflections provides information on wall thickness, diameter, ovality
and eccentricity. Measurement of the runtime of electromagnetic waves is also known under the abreviation RADAR (Radio
Detection and Ranking). WARP systems generate a signal and couple this signal into an open space via a suitable antenna of
the transceiver and a focusing optical device. The high-frequency wave spreads into space and is reflected by the measured

Based on 30 years of experience and a variety of revolutionary ideas, iNOEX has for 30 years
developed systems and solutions which are precisely tuned to the specific demands arising in the
pipe, profile, cable, sheet and film extrusion industry.

 

The latest innovation by iNOEX is the Terahertz based hand-held system called WARP portable
designed for wall thickness and diameter measurement on plastic pipes. The advantage of Terahertz
technology lies in its temperature-independent measurement and its electromagnetic radiation which
is harmless to health. The Terahertz source for WARP is a transceiver developed by iNOEX and a
state-of-the-art THz chip. WARP is ideally suited for the measurement of all common plastic materials such as PE, HDPE, PP, PA, PVC etc.. The battery-operated hand-held device has been specifically designed for medium and large-sized extruded pipes. The modern ergonomic design offers great user comfort. Exchangeable centering aids for large or medium pipe sizes round off this product. Evenplanar surfaces, e.g. plastic sheets > 5 mm, are measurable to an accuracy of 50 µm, simply bypressing a key. The LED ring round the key to be pressed is a status indicator which provides a feedback on measurement quality.

The simple intuitive operation is based on a capacitive touch display featuring a resolution of 320 x
240 pixels inside the WARP portable. After the measurement, wall thickness data or – in the case of
diameter measurement through the pipe cross section - both wall thickness values and the interior
and exterior wall thickness sizes are displayed. A special feature is available due to two integrated
acceleration sensors which record the measuring angle, i.e. the pipe position, and the date and timeof the measurement. For recipes only the processed material needs to be entered. Configuration will be done by way of a separate configuration mask. At this point a WIFI connection can optionally be set up for transmission of stored measuring data to a PC. Measuring values can be transmitted also via an integrated USB interface. Additionally, it is possible to switch between metrical and imperial units.





 

PRECISE WALL THICKNESS AND DIAMETER MEASUREMENT ON 8 MEASURING POINTS!

MAJOR SAVINGS POSSIBLE.
Raw material costs amount to a signifcant proportion of 80 % or more in total production costs of plastic pipes. Depending
on the throughput rates of an extrusion line, the used kind of material and the specifed standards, an enormous savings
potential lies in the difference between minimum and maximum permissible pipe dimensions. The use of an appropriate
measuring and control technology, such as e.g. WARP 8 combined with continuously operating gravimetric systems, offer a
savings potential of 5 % or more in used material.
EASY TO USE.
Of importance for the success of a measuring and control system is not only the savings potential but also an easy operation. WARP 8 is able to set a new standard here. The automatic centering by way of an XY cross table and the fact that no dimensionend components are required simplify enormously the process of putting the system into operation. Another strong
point is the visualization software. All the line operator has to do is select the recipe and start the measuring process.
RELIABLE DETECTION OF SAGGING.
On account of the 8 measuring points of WARP 8, the system is able to safely detect sagging at the critical points. Further,
the operator receives measuring data on diameters, ovality and eccentricity on 4 axes
